Hello hello,

II've just installed QLC+ (latest version) on my win xp (sp3) but it doesn't work.
When i launch the soft i have this message:

"This application failed to start because it could not find or load the Qt platform plugin "windows" in "".
Available platform plugins are: xindows"

I've tried several stuff found on the net but no solutions works...

An idea?
Thanks

Buongiorno Massimo,
Sorry for hijacking this thread.
I want also to run the application on a XP-System. I downloaded this days the latest 4 Version. I got the same error.
Google found, there should be the dll in a wrong folder. But everything seems to be right. Is there maybe a failure in the installer? Has the dll to be registrated right?

Thank you in advance.

Hello,

i hope i can help to solve the problem. I have installed Version 4.11.2 on my XP machine. This Version seems to be working fine. After installing Version 4.12.0 there is the error with the missing file.

I don't know how to help. QLC+ 4.11.x and 4.12.x share the same libraries, so 4.12 should work too.
XP is almost 18 years old. Last SP happened 11 years ago.
Please consider upgrading your system at least to Windows 7 (which will EOL in 2020 anyway...)

Hello hello,

I try version 4.11.0 and i have another error message but still not working.

And then i try the 4.11.2 and it works fine!!
Thx Zebra for your help.

I know i should upgrad my PC but i can't because its an eeepc (Asus 1005 HA) and the windows after xp needs too many memory to run on my computer....

Bye.

Hello Massimo,

thanks for answering.
IMHO this is not the problem of a missing library. More a problem of a wrong registration of it in the OS. Maybe... i dont know much about programming.

And you`re right. XP is really old. But I use my new Notebook for Djing and want to recycle my old XP-Notebook for the lightshow.

But i consider also to switch to Linux. This is also a solution for roman. Linux is not so hungry than Windows 7/10.

Thank you.

Indeed, Linux will give your laptop/netbook 5 more years of life. Guaranteed.
Windows 7 would take 5 years away from it :)
