Hello!
Let met get right to it, I would like to use a standard 5 pin midi cable connected via the GPIO pins to control QLC. I have a pi 3 b and I have followed a few tutorials to get MIDI in set up but am stuck getting it to work in QLC. Is what I'm trying to do even feasible? Has anyone else been successful in doing this? Any help would be appreciated!

Hello,
can you tell us what exactly you have done? Or what tutorials did you follow?
I guess you created converter from MIDI to GPIO (like here: https://www.samplerbox.org/article/midiinwithrpi). Then you have serial port in the system that allows you to read MIDI data.
Then you have to make alsa recognize the device: https://gist.github.com/CarloCattano/8c ... 6bcd752ea6
If alsa recognizes the device and read MIDI from it, then QLC+ should be able to do so as well.
NOT TESTED!
Let us know exactly what did you do, what works and what not. so we can help you.

Yeah of course! Honestly just didn't want to type it all out if this was just not possible haha.
Anyway, I did follow that guide to make the MIDI circuit but in the comments it was mentioned that the PI3 had slightly different instructions for configuration. I tried following that but still was having issues so then followed this tutorial https://youtu.be/RbdNczYovHQ?si=1i5WG3N0WZeFoIZP
I must admit I am very new to raspberry pi and linux in general and did not know about configuring alsa. I am working on that now.
Some other info, I have QLC set up exactly how I want on desktop and have copied fixtures/workspace/and MIDI profiles to the pi.
One more question, once set up what would I select for input in QLC?
Thank you!

There should be a midi device present. Use an extra universe for your inputs. (Keep them separate from any other inputs or outputs since they might conflict.)
