Q Light Controller+

Hello all-

I am building some custom fixtures using LED tape (similar to project found here https://youtu.be/Me3-dcMfEtM )
I am utilizing these 5050 RGB LED strips

My fixtures are 66 LEDs in length, however not sure if that matters as they are not individually addressable. I've tried utilizing the generic RGB profile in QLC+ to build out a fixture, however I'm not getting proper response, so unsure if I have built the fixtures correctly. If someone could build out a profile, or point me towards a pre-made, would appreciate it!

Unfortunately you do not tell us which DMX controller you are using (watch your video from 04:40 to 05:15).
This is "the Brain" of your Fixture(s) and the unit that QLC will communicate with (using DMX).

I've done quite some projects with all kinds and lengths of strips like that (5050 or 5035 RGB LEDS from 5 to 24 V), and cheap chinese DMX LED controllers similar to this one.

There might be better controllers (offering higher PWM rates for flicker free operation, overvoltage protection and more) on the market but for me they worked well, driven via QLC+ and an Enttec DMXUSB Pro Mk2 interface, or from several hardware consoles. I built short adapter cables 5-pin XLR to the controller's DMX terminal, and soldered proper cable to the strips, to connect them to their respective output ports on the controllers, up to 7 of them.

It's really straightforward IMO, and if it doesn't work there is only a limited number of reasons:

- wrong ot inverted Voltage supply
- wrong DMX connector (GND/DATA+/DATA-)
- wrong DMX address (DIP switch)
- bad solder joints or contacts in the controller output terminals

And supply enough power, you can only run so many meters LED strip per supply without significant drop in brightness, depending on PSU wattage and LEDs per meter.

What do you mean by adequate response?
