Hello there,

this is NOT a nag threat. I only want to help find Bugs. I posted in this category, because most of the bugs affects the Show Manager.

First a little statement where i use QLC+. I make a little Erotic-Party, its like an Theater Show. I organize this every 6 Months and everytime i use the newest Version from QLC+. Before 6 Months i used 4.12.0.57, last Week i used 4.12.2.39, both on Windows 7!

Before i start a little note: I have detected "new" bugs. This means in 4.12.0.57 i had not these bugs. So i mark the "new" bugs with new

Many, Many crashs new
While 4.12.0.57 runs stable on my machine, version 4.12.2.39 crashs multiple times in all possible situations. So its hard to reproduce. I worked about 10 hours and had about 100 crashes. It crashes in Show Mode, in Function Manager, it crashes when you change values, it crashes when you simply add a audio file. Forget to save -> start from new...

Sequences in Show Manager disappears new
Sometimes you add a Sequence on a new track. The squence editor windows open, but no sequence was created - the new track was blank. Its not only a optical problem, there is no Sequence! The Sequence editor opens, but no Sequence was created, even in function manager - There is no sequence.

Sequences in Shows doesnt play new
Make a new track and a sequence. Play show and nothing happens. I created a simple Secquence in a show, that only turns my pars on. When i click the sequence all fine, pars turns on. But when i play the show and they stay off. Delete Sequence and add it again doesnt help. You have to delete the whole track!

Fake Steps in Sequences in Show mode new
Lets say i make a sequence in show mode that has 1 step and a hold of 4s. Optical it looks like a sequence with 2 steps with 2s every steps. When i made 2 Steps, it tooks like it has 3 steps and so on.

This problem is only optical, When you play the show, sequence work correct. But its a little bit confuse to working with.
This Sequence have 1 Step, but it look like 2
This Sequence have 1 Step, but it look like 2

Time marker in show mode freeze new
Sometimes when i want set preview stereo channels of a audio in a show the yellow time marker freezes. I can jump ion the time line, but the yellow audiomarker stays on the time, that was setted, when i made the audio track waveform visible. It doesnt help to save and reload the save - you have to restart QLC+.
Time Marker on 24s. When i click another point in Show, time marker stays on 24s. Its freezed and dont move any more, even when i press play!

Values overwritten while working on other things
I made a Show - a view Moving head positions - use pars and so on. I work on this show, until it runs correct.

Then make a second show, work on it until it works fine. Then play the first show again and things are broken: moving head positions are wrong, lights have wrong color, some sequences settet to zero values only...Fix that until it works. Test the second Show and now things here are broken. Fix it and play first show again, things are broken again.

This problem exist since i use QLC+ first before 1,5 Years!

For example: i made a sequence in a show that have 4 steps. On first step first par turnes on, on second step the second par turnes on and so on - I have 4 pars, thats why i use 4 steps. All works fine, i save, turn laptop off, goes to bed. Next morning i load the workspace and its broken:

1 Step: All 4 Pars turns on and on the other 3 Steps all values are 0! I correced these.

5 Minutes before the guests arrived i play the show for test. 1 Step: All 4 Pars turns on and on the other 3 Steps all values are 0!???? OK i have 5 Minutes before go live. I corrected these again, test it and all works fine. I go live, the guests arrived, i play the show: 1 Step: All 4 Pars turns on and on the other 3 Steps all values are 0!

Like i sayd: This problem is NEVER fixed since i use QLC.

The problem is - Fix one sequence there and another, in another show (or in the same) gets broken! I need the half of my time to fix broken sequences (that working correct before) in the hope the fix doesnt destroy other tings...I cant reprocude this. Had tried 100 things to reproduce at home, but i dont find the way...

But here are 100 other People using the Show Mode - Has nobody these problems? Why only me?

The BlendMode bug new
I made a thread for this already, because this is really confusing:

In virtual console i have a solo frame with different pages. On each page is a cue-list which plays the same sequence. Only 6 Moving-Heads make a lightwalk:
cue-list.JPG
I go live play this cue-list - all works fine. Then i try to play it and the lights flickers, moves to positions i never programmed. All broken. I stop life, try to play this little sequence in function mode - but all broken. The steps and values are 100% correct, but when i play it, it make things that are not programmed! All broken, but steps and values correct.

I save the workspace under new name and load it, try to play the sequence in function mode again - all broken (but code of sequence is correct!). So i load the Workspace and see this:

Code: Select all

  </Function>
The function with ID 3 is the broken sequence. In Value editor all is correct, but when i play it, it seems to send wrong DMX Values!

Like i said - as it was broken i save the workspace under a new name. The difference between the workspace where the function runs is the bounded hidden scene (Function ID 2). It has the attribute BlendMode="Additive". Since it has this attribute the sequence send wrong values!

When i remove this attribute i can play it for 1 time - after that qlc adds again BlendMode="Additive" to the hidden scene (play it one time - and save under new name, you'll see). When i try to play it a second time, its broken. It makes no difference if i try to play in function mode or if i go live and play it with the cue-list. One Play = Damaged...

What means BlendMode="Additive" and why QLC+ add it itself?

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

OK i hope my bugs help anything. I try to reproduce it. But please look at it. Possibly you can find some solutions before i found a way to reproduce! Is really hard to reproduce some things. When you work with QLC the bugs comes really often, but when i try to reprocuce, it works fine!

QWC+ is a niece piece of software, but this bugs drive me crazy and costs much of time!

Thank you all!

Just to be clear, version 4.12.0.57 is a TEST release. It is ONLY for TEST purposes.

Hi CoS2000,

First thing, I strongly advise you to never use a testversion for live shows. At this moment the only 'supported' production version is 4.12.1. Secondly, I am a pretty heavy user of Show Manager but most of the issues you mention could be related to the way you created your project. I say this because I do not recognize them at all.

Having that said I can also say that Massimo isn't keen on working on Show Manager but in this case (if you ask me) your post is also way to long work on. If you want him to work on it I'd break the post down in smaller pieces by starting to create a new show on a supported version, explain briefly but exactly what you did, what you expect the software to do and then share your showfile along with the needed information about the used version, your hardware, your OS, etc. Perhaps then he will take a look but again, no promises made. I myself found and reported some bugs too but he didn't even look at them or took the time to respond.

And about Values overwritten while working on other things:

This I do recognize at some level and I had that before. I 'fixed' this by in the first step selecting all the pars I am going to use in this Sequence and setting dimmer to 255. The only thing I change per step is the value of the color I need per par. That works for me and I hope this helps.

I know. But as i used 4.12.0.57 before 6 months there exist a big value overwrite bug (i posted here) that was fixed in 4.12.0.57! So i use these version.

This time i was reading about timing problems and some people cant usw there USB/DMX devices. It was fixed, so i use 4.12.2.39!
your post is also way to long work on
I know that too. But Massimo said he only can fix things where we can reproduce the bug. I code myself and i know its hard to fix a problem, that isnt reproduceable!

So i posted my problems all in one thread in the hope somebody else can confirm my issues, can give work arounds, so that its possible to make it reproduceable.

This is what i do too.

I had a scene with my 6 moving heads, that just shine to a position on the ground in the middle of the room. I copy this as a sequence to a show (when you add a scene to a show, QLC will make a sequence). All worked fine. Next day i load the Workspace and 1 moving head in the show shines to high and not on the position i set.

Then i made a new show and after it works as i want it, i checked the old show - and the moving head again shows the same position to high. I corrected these again and made a third show. After this works i check 1 show and yeah lights are correct. I save, go to bad. Next day i load workspace - In 1 and 2 show moving head position ist to high...

The funny thing is - I set Tilt to value 119 - QLC changes it to 187. I corrected it back to 119 - Next day it was 187 again...

The work around you descripe isnt necessary in this case, cause it was a scene i used and when i add a scene to a show qlc make a sequence with 1 step from it where all channels are set correctly! Nevertheless the bug occures!

Sometime is strange. I want to help Massimo, cause i know he dont like bugs (as we all do). But these value changing problems from QLC are very nasty. I every time try on home different things to make it reproduceable. I hope anytime i have success to help Massimo (and myself) for fixing. This bug exists since the beginning i use QLC+ and its a hard piece ;-)!

But i still have hope we can find a way! The mainwork of QLC+ should me to save and play values correctly.

One of a crappy value overwriting bug in show mode i had made reproduceable and Massimo fixed it. This helped, but it wasnt the only one bug with value-saving problems.
