Video function - sound but no picture on first play

Hi - using qlcplus-qt5_4.12.0 with Linux Mint 17.3 and Qt5 (5.2.1). Tried on both i386 and AMD64 platforms.

Video functions play sound but no picture on first attempt after starting QLC+
This happens in the Functions tab and in the Virtual Console. Second and subsequent tries work as expected, it's just the first attempt after starting QLC+ that is sound-only for each video.
It affects each video function independently, so every video must be started twice to get a picture.

Not a deal-breaker as it works reliably after first time, but a nuisance having to run every video before the start of a show. Any suggestions or workarounds welcome!

I am experiencing the same issue on my Windows 7 computer.

Was this issue ever resolved, or does anybody know how to avoid it?
