I'm wondering about using RGB Matrix fade in..

Nice to meet you. 
I'm wondering about using RGB Matrix.
What am I supposed to do to fade in and fade out maintaining patterns embedded in RGB Matrix?
Especially can I do that in Chaser or Show menu?
And using Animation widget, I found out that fade Effect could be turned into passive, Can I start with automatic?
