akai Apc40 setup

I have been trying for 2 days, searched these forums and have tried i believe everything, just cant get it to connect to qlc.
Currently using Windows 8.1
under inputs/outputs, under profile I have selected apc40
assigned a button under virtual console, I had to manually pick the button since it wont auto detect.
I have also loaded albeton live and it works fine with that.
Any ideas,
