Crashed on Mac test version after a few minutes.

I use a 2012 MBPR, OS X 10.12.3 beta along with, yeah, an ENTTEC DMXUSB Pro.

If you want these crashes to be resolved, saying "crashed after a few minutes" doesn't help at all.
I need to know what you were doing, the project you used, if it crashes sistematically with a particular action, and every possible detail that can help.
On macOS you also get a crash log. Where is it ?

I know I didn't provide too much detail. I will the next time if it occurs.

Thank you.

Care to share some more information about your setup ?
- did you use my test project or one of yours ? (in case please share the faulty workspace)
- does it make any difference with/without MIDI input ?
- did you make sure you are using a clean installation of the test build linked above ?
- I am using a small project from my own
- I did not test that as I need MIDI to be able to control the light from our backing track laptop
- Yeah is a clean installation

But I have found out something: I was using the global blackout in our show quite often to in some parts to have the lights turn on/off with the kick drum. I have created a blackout scene and used that instead and I did a test (about 8 hours) and it worked without any crashes. The first 4 hours without the DMX interface the other 4 hours with the DMX interface connected. In both cases the light was controlled from cubase via midi.

I don't know if this helps at all but when this has happened to me the setup I use is:

Laptop - Windows 10 Pro
Enntec Pro
AKAI LDP 8 (USB MIDI)

I've had it happen when I have just left the software running a colour chaser and i've also had it happen when i've been pressing lots of buttons on the USB MIDI device although I don't know if this is coincidence or not? It all seems to happen after a few hours of running.

Thanks for trying to sort this Massimo :)

I've just ran the test software + work space for 1 hours with my USB MIDI plugged in aswell as outputting to my Enntec PRO DMX. hasn't crashed yet !

Last weekend I discovered, for the first time, crashes.

My setup was:

- Windows 10 laptop
- 'cheap' USB-DMX adapter
- AKAI mini APC MIDI-Controller
- my own project

After a 2nd crash I disconnected AKAI MIDI console and then everything worked fine.
Sorry I can't attach my workspace and crash reports - they are on my laptop at home.

Sounds like we're all using MIDI controllers - hope this gets fixed !

Can someone experiencing crashes please share a simple workspace that I can test on Windows/macOS to reproduce and fix ?

I get you are having issues with VC sliders controlled via MIDI, but I don't get what those sliders are doing. Are they controlling 100 channels ? A Function ? Submaster ?
Please help me to help you.

Hi Massimo,
I've had this happen on a previous workspace where I had my MIDI controller mapped to a button in QLC that triggered a flash on all my Parcans so I'd maybe say 30 channels triggered at once? Hopefully one of the other guys can give you some more info!

Ummm, Not I. My crash happens without any MIDI at all. Rock solid on Windows w/o Entec Mk2. Random crash on windows when connected to Mk2. Solid on Linux either way. This is why the show computer now dual boots into Mint.

Here is my workspace. MIDI console is mainly used to control dimmer channels, buttons - to control scenes buttons.
You probably need to change some fixture definitions, I use often definitions created/modified by myself.

/edit 20170317 - added fixture definitions

Please share your custom fixtures required for the workspace, too.

I also experienced issues with crashing QLC+, in a show. Because of not having so much trust in QLC+ since it crashed in a show, I currently drive the following setup at a time:

Machine 1: Windows XP, Intel Core Duo, 2GB RAM, QLC+ 4.10.5b, Korg nanoKontrol 2, Enttec OpenDMX USB, ASIX Ethernet adapter for ArtNet, ELO touchscreen over serial connector, Behringer audio interface.
Machine 2: Windows 10 Pro x64, 4GB RAM, Core i5 (Dualcore), QLC+ 4.10.5b, Enttec OpenDMX USB, ASIX Ethernet adapter for ArtNet, integrated touchscreen, integrated audio.

Today, I tried to connect the Korg nanoKontrol to my second machine and also experienced a crash.

When crashing, QLC+ freezes and does nothing for a few seconds, followed by the windows "not responding" dialog. On Windows XP, the event monitor shows an error in qlcplusengine.dll, without further information. On Windows 10 it is just freezing. The workspace file is absolutly identical, without the Korg it does not crash as far as I researched.

The Korg is only used for clicking "next" in a cue list and starting audio samples using the faders.

This thread is related to not-yet released versions where the issue is supposed to be fixed. See the first post.
You mentioned 4.10.5b, so I think your report is irrelevant for this discussion.

Hi, I was trying out the raspberry PI and getting crashes when exiting operate mode so tryed out a PC and got the same thing.
So far the test release hasnt crashed, would this fix also apply to the pi version?
If so is there a test version?

Thanks

Yes: it will be applied to the RPi version too.
No: there are no test versions for the RPi. Only official releases.
