Help gathering complete definitions anyone ?

Hi all, is there a good soul willing to gather all the fixture definitions of the fulfilled requests in this area ?

I thought I could, but I really am not able to follow this particular forum. I normally add fixtures from "Fixture definitions".
I have unread posts from April 15th 2016: Smoke Factory Tour Hazer II Fixture request

The task is to check definitions from the date above with the fixture validator and inform me which ones are good. Basically a post with the "good links" would be enough.
Please do not consider chinese stuff or incomplete ones. If they're missing just some tiny bits then see if they can easily be fixed and eventually post the final qxf file.

I feel there are some good ones in here but I really don't have time to process all the posts.
The QLC+ project produces too much input for me alone and I need to prioritize things.

Well, thanks in advance to anyone willing to help !

Hey Massimo,

I have some spare time over the next few days so I could give it a try.
Do you have a date in mind, by which everything should be finished (or release of next version)?
If you want, I could directly set up a pull request for the definitions.

Hi Lukas, thanks for offering, much appreciated.
No due date at all. I have no idea ATM when the next QLC+ version will be released, so please take all the time you need.

As for pull requests, for now I prefer to have the files (or links) here. On GitHub I'd risk to overlook at something that I might see more clearly with the definition editor.
Thanks again

I add a post to sum up my results. I'll edit this until I finished so that I don't forget where I stopped.
PS. It's not possible to add more than 3 attachments so I'll only post the links and probably a zip file as soon as I have finished.

I think I'm done.
Tried to avoid fixtures that are already included or Chinese ones. If I didn't miss anything, they all pass the validator.
Please note, that I did not exactly reviewed the correctness of every single definition because of a lack of experience creating fixture definitions. However I did a short check for every fixture definition if it roughly matches the manual.
In addition to that, I'm not quite sure if I covered all the threads you haven't processed yet, since there where some, that you've already added.

From time to time I can look back in this section and report new fixtures in here.

If you need further help/information, please let me know.

They don't even pass the fixture validator.
I guess you haven't even read the OP.

  • A fixture should pass the online fixture validator to be accepted
  • A fixture should reflect the exact indications given in the product user manual
is a contradiction in itself - the only problem with the fixture validator is that modes shouldn't contain the word mode in the name, this is what they are called in the product user manual. So one of those conditions is violated in any case. Shall I invent a new name for each mode?

The second doesn't validate because the manual says for the strobe effect "increasing speed" and the validator thinks it should belong to the speed group. But strobe is a shutter effect, isn't it?

So is it "should pass the validator" or is it "MUST pass the validator"?

Do you want to be right ? You're right then. Happy ?

The word "should" says it all. The rest is common sense.
In the QLC+ add fixture dialog there is "Mode" and a combo box. Therefore "Mode: 13 channel mode" doesn't sound that right.
Plus, multiply the word "mode" by all the modes of 870 fixtures and you'll have the amount of all the useless bytes that would go into the QLC+ package.

Also, if a fixture manual is available only in german, would you stick to it and write a fixture definition in german for everybody in the world ? Please be reasonable.

The whole point here is that I started this topic to ask for some help because I was way behind with the review of the fixtures submitted in this forum area.
Instead, you took a random post and posted an update of an existing fixture and a new one no one has ever seen. Both should have gone in a new thread in the Fixture definitions area.

But who am I to say this forum is a total mess cause people refuse to simply choose the right place ?

Yeah. You are right of course.

I have to admit I was a little bit pissed - please forgive me, that's not your fault. I really should know better.

Of course that was the wrong thread. I'll come up with some idea how to include the mode number from the manual without using "mode" in the name and will resubmit in the right place.

One question: What is the sense behind requiring the pan/tilt degree information on a laser fixture?

For when we'll ever have 3D laser simulation :smirk:
