Midi triggered fog machines with QLC+

Ask a generic question about the usage of QLC+, not related to a particular operating system

Hello everyone,

My band and I want to spice things up a little bit so we decided to get two fog machines (Stairville AF-180 LED Fogger Co2 FX DMX). The plan is to run QLC+ on a Raspi (I already own a Raspi 3) and trigger the shots by midi. There is already a midi track running that controls my amp, so I guess I just add the commands for QLC+ on another midi channel, right?

Since I've never gotten in touch with DMX or light in general I'm fairly new to this topic, so I just wanna know if this is achievable?

We would like to change the colour of the LED rings and start/stop the fog, nothing more.
Has someone done something similar and could give me his .qxw file so I can look how things are done? Would be great!

Do you have any tipps for this project?

cheers

Yes this is definitely possible.
The software is documented very well: http://www.qlcplus.org/docs/index.html
Also, the video tutorials are very helpful: http://www.qlcplus.org/tutorials.html
You should learn everything you need with this two links - otherwise ask some more precise questions and we will help!

Thank You @siegmund !

I set everything up and it works like charme. Can't wait to show it to my band :D :D

I use Midi triggered shows in QLC+ on the Raspi which is very convenient.

Thank you all for this great tool!
